How and What to Focus on in a Startup Environment: Acknowledgement

Every possible solution to a new challenge for a startup seems plausible, perhaps even good. What do you do?  What choice to make?  (You may not even be aware of what choices you have?)  When faced with the path forward, every piece of advice, every blog, every book, every comment by a Venture Capitalist seems to be the right answer.  When faced with the myriad of different solutions for the ever increasing amount of questions, issues and challenges, what is the founder/leader of a startup to do?  Even for those founders with past success, is it a question of this seemed to work before, so I should be able to duplicate my success again this time?

Well, there are no easy, pat answers.  And you certainly don't need another blog to give you yet another piece of advice.  That said. . .

At this time of year, with Chinese New Year looming and the year coming to a close, its always important to take the time to reflect on the successes of the past year - no matter how great or small.  You've survived.  You're still going and taking the road less traveled.

More importantly, one should take the time to put into place a routine of acknowledging all of the small miracles - whether its acknowledgement of hard work, celebrating a co-worker's birthday, or providing a company update so that everyone knows the achievements of the previous year.  After all, startups are not just about achieving your definition of success, its about the journey as well and the people you travel with.
